Department settings
The settings a department admin controls, on the Department tab below the roster: the tactical assignments the incident commander picks from, the badge that identifies your department across the app, and your own sign-in address.
Assignment types#
This is the list of tactical assignments the incident commander picks from on the command board. It ships with a default list and is yours to edit.
Each entry has three things:

| House | Marks it an interior duty. |
| **** | Marks it common, so it appears at the top of the IC's dropdown. |
Common types are listed first in the order you set; everything else follows alphabetically, then Custom… for one-off assignments an IC types during a drill.
The interior flag matters operationally#
The house flag is what clears a company to enter the structure. When the interior module is on, a company can only go inside if their unit's current assignment carries this flag, and only after their unit has arrived. Reassigning them to an assignment without it removes access immediately and walks anyone inside back out.
Defaults with the flag: Fire Attack, Search & Rescue, Backup Line, Overhaul, Salvage. Without it: Ventilation, Water Supply, RIT, Exposure Protection, Rehab, Utilities.
Set these to match how your department actually operates. If your RIT deploys interior in your SOPs, flag it.
Editing#
- + Add type adds a row.
- The trash button removes one.
- Reset to defaults restores the shipped list.
- Save stores it. Names must be unique and none can be blank.
Changes apply to drills joined after you save. A drill already in progress keeps the list it started with.
Department badge#
Your badge appears on the sign-in page and in the header of every screen for your department.
Upload a PNG, JPG, or WebP at least 200×200 pixels. Square works best; anything else is center-cropped. Transparent PNGs look sharpest against the dark interface. The image is normalized to a single 512-pixel square automatically, so you do not have to prepare it precisely.
Subdomain#
Your department can have its own address, yourdepartment.getsizeup.com. On that address the sign-in page shows your badge, and only your department's people can sign in there.
Subdomains are configured for you during onboarding. Ask if you want one changed.
