The builder, screen by screen
The scenario builder is where you assemble what crews will see: the images of the building, what is burning, who is trapped, which units respond, and what changes during the drill. Nothing here runs on a clock. The clock starts in a live drill.
Open it from Scenario Builder on the home screen. The list shows every scenario in your department with its view count.
- Click a scenario name to open it.
- ⧉ duplicates a scenario, including its views, elements, levels, and injects. Use this to build variations of the same building.
- The trash button deletes a scenario. An Undo bar appears afterwards, and a deleted scenario can be recovered for 30 days. Sessions that already ran keep their own copy of the scenario, so deleting one does not change past reviews.
Header#
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Back arrow | Returns to the scenario list. |
| Scenario name | Click the name to edit it. |
| Save state | Saved when the server has your work, Saving… while it is in flight, and ⚠ Not saved: with the reason if the server refused it. |
The builder saves automatically as you work. There is no save button. If the header shows ⚠ Not saved, read the reason: the most common one is a module enabled without an active subscription. Anything you change after that point is not stored, so fix the reason before closing the tab.
Left panel#
The left panel has four tabs.
- Views lists the images in this scenario and adds new ones. See Views.
- Setup holds the modules, the dispatch address, the notification timers, and the responding units. See Dispatch, timers, and responding units.
- Levels holds situation levels, which are saved arrangements of the whole scene. See Situation levels.
- Injects holds injects, which are events you or the clock trigger during a drill. See Injects.
Center: the scene#
The toolbar across the top places elements:
Fire · Smoke · Victim · Apparatus · Hazard · Hydrant
Click a tool, then click the scene to place it. On the right of the toolbar is a reminder of the direct manipulations:
- Drag an element to move it.
- Scroll over an element to resize it.
- ⌫ (Delete or Backspace) removes the selected element.
Elements belong to the view they were placed on. A fire on Side A does not appear on Side C. That is deliberate: each view is a separate camera position, and you decide what is visible from each one.
Apparatus and hydrants are not offered while an interior view is open. There are no rigs or water supply inside the structure.
If the open view is an aerial marked as the tactical map, the center pane shows the calibration screen instead of the element toolbar. See Aerial calibration and the sides.
Right panel: element inspector#
Select an element and its settings appear here. Each element type has different settings, listed in Scene elements reference. With nothing selected, the panel reads Select an element on the scene.
The Delete element button at the bottom of the inspector does the same thing as the Delete key.
Modules#
The module checkboxes need an active department subscription; without one the server refuses to save a scenario that has them enabled. Scenarios authored earlier still load in a drill, with the modules turned off and a line in the drill feed saying so.
The two modules are apparatus placement and interior simulation.
