Apparatus inventory and configurations

Small departments can keep typing units into each scenario. Larger ones run different apparatus sets for different situations, so the Apparatus tab lets you define the fleet once and load the right response into a scenario in one step. Instructors and admins can edit it.

Inventory#

Every rig the department can send, plus any mutual-aid rigs you drill with:

Field Meaning
Name The callsign as dispatched and shown on the command board, for example Engine 52 or New Hanover Truck 1.
Type Engine, Truck (aerial), Rescue, Medical, Tanker / tender, Brush, Hazmat, Command, Police, UTV, Boat, Drone (UAS).
Features Type-specific details: an engine's pump and tank, a truck's aerial configuration and height, a rescue's capabilities, an ambulance's ALS/BLS level, and so on.
Mutual aid Marks a rig from another department, with the agency name. Later alarm levels will dispatch these automatically.
Notes Anything the crew should know.

Features are informational for now. They show in the builder, on the command board, and in the after-action review; they do not yet change how the drill runs.

Configurations#

A configuration is a named set of rigs from the inventory, such as Structure fire, first alarm, Second alarm, MVA, or Wildland. Tick the rigs that belong to it. Each rig in a configuration can carry a default arrival window (minutes after dispatch); leave it blank for the standard one to four minutes.

Create as many configurations as you have response types. A rig can be in any number of them.

Using a configuration in a scenario#

On the Setup tab of the scenario builder, the Responding units panel has a Load configuration dropdown. Loading it replaces the scenario's units with the configuration's rigs and their default windows; you then adjust arrival windows for this scenario as usual. Manual add, edit, and remove still work afterwards, so a one-off unit can always be added.

Loading copies the rigs into the scenario. Editing the inventory later does not change scenarios you already built; reload the configuration if you want them to pick up the change.

Save as configuration does the reverse: it turns the units already in a scenario into a new configuration (adding any rigs the inventory does not have yet), which is the quickest way to build your first one from a scenario you already like.
